I found it surprising that scientists must search such a wide region of the radio spectrum to listen within the "terrestial microwave." Observing frequencies between 1 to 10 GHz is quite a large band and takes quite an amount of effort. However, it does make sense to me that Jill Tarter shared that rather than just picking magic frequencies to specifically focus on, we must look everywhere in that band to avoid any unintentional ignorance.
