Asking about how discovery of extraterrestrial life is more than a question with a simple answer. Over the years, people have been trying to find this answer based on mathematical records, human behavior, and UFO theories around the world. Personally, my biggest question is what type of advancements contact with extraterrestrial life would bring to humanity instantly? Being more specific, what type of technologies, social changes, or international-related solutions would contact with an extraterrestrial society start in our community? Could wars come to an end in order to focus on larger concerns (in this case, an invasion)?
This question makes me reflect on how our minds can deeply change in seconds with something that seems to happen only in movies. My main thought is how religious people would immediately change their minds, and stop believing in their beliefs and how churches and religious centers would approach this situation. Answering this question is challenging because human behavior is highly unpredictable. We cannot anticipate what types of radical groups may emerge after this contact, or what solutions these groups might devise to retain their followers. In conclusion, I believe that we are at a point where we must either sink or swim. As a politics lover, I might end up imagining how politicians would approach this situation with religious figures. Returning to what the Drake Equations says: “It is seen as a way to "organize our ignorance" because the uncertainties are so large, which makes it impossible to predict anything with it." Our ignorance can bring us to different outcomes and how our society would organize itself to deal with an incoming new society on Earth.
