In Dan Gilbert's interview about the intersection of prediction and psychology something I found interesting was when he talked about how the future was all people cared about. The reason this is is because the past is in the past and there isn't anything you can do about it, but the future hasn't happened yet and in a sense that's all humans can think about since it hasn't happened yet. So often we find ourselves thinking about what we're gonna wear tomorrow and guessing what food will be served at the dining hall. The most surprising thing I heard during this interview was the fact that humans aren't the only species to think about the future.
