One thing I will remember most about this interview a year from now is that AI is not as special as we think it is. They are just tools that empower human beings. Yes, they may seem to have mental human-like capabilities, but this is because humans trained them on enormous amounts of data. After all, humans were the ones who programmed these machines.
I think this interview will help us put a greater emphasis on safety and responsibility in the future. Ben advised that if a machine reaches to a point where it is incomprehensible, then it can also become uncontrollable and therefore lead to dangerous outcomes. Some applications can be better logging systems which could prevent accidents such as the Tesla crash. Another way that this interview will affect my future is that with my understanding that many people falsely label things as AI and that only a small portion of applications that we use today genuinely have AI models, I will be more aware of the current AI landscape that we are in. I would also understand what AI actually can do and what it may be able to do in the future without fear of it taking over the world.
