What do you, personally, think you will remember most about this interview a year from now?
I had no idea about Bayes' theorem before watching this interview. Now, with a better understanding of how probability works and affects our daily lives, I can make more informed decision making in my future. I will certainly keep Bayes' theorem in the back of my mind from now on.
How do you think any aspect of the interview will affect your own future, or society's future?
I fully believe the most impactful part of the interview with Ned Hall in the future is his discussion on how artificial intelligence will change our conception of science fundamentally. The development of the scientific process has taken hundreds of years. Due to the unfathomable computing power that new technology has unlocked for humanity, thousands of iterations can be run with relatively little effort. This could(if the computers become advanced enough) lead the process of "rule-theory-expanation" to become an automated process, making human effort/brain power obsolete.
Excellent observations Ford! Your concluding thoughts about human effort/brain power becoming obsolete really stuck with me. It's interesting to think about how an idea like that would have seemed impossible just a few decades ago.
